How We Hunt
Experience The Pursuit
From November to January, Maine's sea duck season gives hunters the opportunity to experience some of the most unique waterfowl hunting the East Coast has to offer. Hunt out of our custom built Duckwater Ocean 18 and enjoy Maine’s coastline while chasing Eider, Black Scoter, Surf Scoter, White Wing Scoter, and Old Squaw.
What to expect
Your hunt will start early as these birds start moving right after legal shooting (1/2hr before sunrise). Meet us at the launch, and we’ll boat out to our destination. Once the decoys are in the water, we set the blind, load the guns, and wait for the action.
For morning hunts, we typically hunt until around 12pm. Afternoon hunts start around 1pm and last until legal shooting (1/2 after sunset)
All sea duck hunts are by boat In our Duckwater Ocean 18. We do not offer any layout or ledge hunting.
What do you need?
Bring your shotgun, your shells, and dress accordingly. We often hunt in temperatures down to the single digits. Come equipped with your Maine hunting license and Migratory Bird Permit, plus your Federal Duck Stamp. We’ll take care of the decoys, the dog, and putting you on birds. Guns can be provided if needed, as well at ammunition at additional cost. We can also clean birds or provide pre taxidermy packaging.
